Lake Manyara

Overview

Lake Manyara National Park, located in northern Tanzania along the Great Rift Valley, is one of the country’s most scenic and diverse safari destinations. Though relatively small in size compared to other parks, it offers a compact safari experience with stunning landscapes, rich wildlife, and birdlife diversity. The park is built around the shallow alkaline Lake Manyara, which covers two-thirds of its area and attracts thousands of flamingos and other water birds.

The park’s landscape is remarkably varied. Visitors will find lush groundwater forests, expansive floodplains, open savannah, hot springs, and the dramatic backdrop of the Rift Valley escarpment. This diversity of habitats makes the safari experience especially rewarding.
