Ngorongoro Crater

Overview

The Ngorongoro Crater, located in northern Tanzania, is the world’s largest inactive and intact volcanic caldera. Formed about two million years ago, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most famous safari destinations. The crater measures about 20 km wide and 600 meters deep, creating a natural enclosure that shelters an incredible density of wildlife.
